Der Architekt, der das Haus entwarf. Er hat das Haus nach unseren Vorstellungen entworfen. Im Entwurf waren die Bäume mit eingezeichnet, die vor dem Haus stehen blieben. Wir wollten nicht alle Bäume fällen, denn unser Haus liegt im Wald.
Die Bepflanzung des Hauses machten wir selbst. Stauden und Halbschattengewächse, die um unser Haus im Wald gut wachsen. Das Haus hat eine gute Luftqualität, wegen der Waldluft.
Die Einfahrt zum Haus wurde mit Schottersteinen planiert, so dass die natürliche Umgebung erhalten blieb. Wir wohnen in einer natürlichen Umgebung.
Der Ausblick aus dem Haus in den Wald. Aus allen Fenstern sieht man in den Wald. Im Haus hört man Windrauschen. Es ist sehr ruhig in unserem Haus am Waldesrand.
Das Haus ist im Falle eines Waldbrandes versichert. Die Versicherung versichert Häuser, die am Wald liegen, wenn sie an eine größere Zufahrtstrasse angebunden sind.
Mit dem Auto brauchen wir eine Viertelstunde bis in die Stadt, weil unser Haus am oberen Teil des Waldes liegt. Die Freunde, die uns besuchen sagen immer, wie schön unser Haus im Wald sei.

We planted the garden of our house ourselves. Shrubs and plants that grow in semi-shade and that will grow well around our house in the woods. The house has good quality air due to the woods.
The entrance to the house was levelled with a gravel path so that the natural environment was maintained. We live in a natural environment.

The house is insured against forest fires. The insurance company insures houses that lie in the woods if they are connected by a reasonable access road.
By car, it’s a quarter of an hour to the town because our house lies in the upper part of the woods. The friends who visit us always say how beautiful our house in the woods is.

Und wir hatten ja diesen Bausparvertrag und beide Arbeit. Und wegen der Kinder bauten wir also dieses Haus außerhalb der Stadt zwischen die Bäume mit Kredit. Hier dieses Bild – so sah es aus. Dahinter ging es zum See, jeden Morgen im Sommer, am Wochenende Sandburgen und ein altes Ruderboot zum rausfahren. Der Balkon war nach Süden, und wir saßen da an den Abenden und grillten oder spielten Canasta oder Rommé mit Freunden bis die Mücken kamen und meistens länger. Und im Winter warfen wir Dias an die Wohnzimmerwand – wie dieses hier eben – und zeigten den Freunden (und uns selbst), wie gut es uns ging, da wo wir jetzt lebten. Bis irgendwas dazwischen kam zwischen uns, glaube ich, bei dir zuerst. Und ich habe es nie verstanden, warum. Und wir ließen also den Wald und den See hinter uns und den Strand und unsere Sandburgen in verschiedene Richtungen (du nahmst die Kinder), und ließen einen Abzug von diesem Bild machen und gaben es dem Immobilienmakler. Und der sortierte uns in seinen Katalog gescheiterter Häuser ein und schaltete eine Anzeige in der Lokalzeitung: „Haus zu verkaufen: Blick auf See, Strandlage, 5 ZKB, Ölheizung, 330.000 DM“ – und dazu dieses Foto eben.
So ging das damals. Viel zu schnell.

And we had that building loan agreement and we both had jobs. And so for the children, we built this house away from the city in the wood on a loan. See this photo – that’s what it looked like. Behind there is where you went down to the lake; every morning in summer, at the weekend sand castles and an old rowing boat for trips. The balcony faced south and we sat there in the evenings and barbecued or played canasta or rummy with friends till the mosquitoes came and mostly longer. And in the winter we showed slides on the living room wall – like this one here – and showed friends (and ourselves) what a good life we had in the place where we now lived. Till something unexpected happened between us, I think, first with you. And I never understood why. And so we left the woods and the lake behind us and the beach and our sand castles in various directions (you took the children) and had a print made of this photograph and gave it to the real estate consultant. And he sorted us into his catalogue of failed houses and put an advert in the local newspaper: “House for sale: Lake view, beach location, 5 rooms, oil central heating, 330,000 Marks” and this photo along with it.
That’s the way it happened back then. Much too fast.
